If you’re gonna make one dish this holiday season, don’t focus on a grand gesture. Sure, smoked turkey is awesome, but you want something a bit easier to make, faster to cook, and doesn’t take a lot of special equipment. That’s why my vote is for humble ole Cranberry Sauce.  Why? Because you can have it with most meals and it screams Happy Holidays! from November straight through to January. Serve it with the Thanksgiving dinner, but also have it for breakfast over buttered toast, or for lunch in a turkey croissant sandwich. How about an appetizer for Christmas dinner, served over warmed baked brie with walnuts?  If breakfast is your jam, start off New Year’s day with cheese blintzes smothered in cranberry sauce. I’m telling you…Cranberry Sauce is where it’s at.

Start with boiling water and sugar together. (For all those watching your carbs or are trying to have a more keto-friendly lifestyle, you can easily swap out regular sugar with an erythritol sugar of your choice.) Once the water is boiling, add the cranberries. This is the fun part, cause the cranberries start to pop when they get hot. Just keep the water heated, not boiling, for about 10 minutes or so until most of the cranberries have burst.

Meanwhile, grate some orange zest. You’ll add this to the sauce to give it a citrusy tang.

After, go ahead, add it, and mix it all up. Add a pinch of salt too.

Then, you’re going to cook the sauce over low heat until it starts to achieve a consistency you prefer. I like mine with some whole cranberries still in there.
