Equipment

  • Skillet
  • tongs

Ingredients

  • 10 flour tortillas
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/8 cup cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

  • Mix cinnamon and sugar on a small plate and set aside. Adjust the ratio to your liking.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, pour oil and heat up.
  • Place one each tortilla carefully in the hot oil. When the tortilla has crisped up after a few minutes, use the tongs to flip it to the other side. The more you fry, the crispier the buñuelo will become.
  • When the buñuelo is fried to your liking, pick it, letting the extra oil drop off in the pan, and then place on paper towels to remove the excess oil.
  • Quickly dredge in cinnamon-sugar blend to coat.
  • Serve whole or break apart and serve as wafers over ice cream.
