Mexican Tea Cookies

These cookies are made of butter, walnuts and vanilla extract then baked and coated in powdered sugar. A classic tea cookie that is perfectly sweet and buttery.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar plus more for coating the top
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose unbleached flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 2/4 cup walnuts finely chopped

Instructions

  • Mix butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla thoroughly.
  • Stir flour and salt together; blend into butter mixture.
  • Mix in nuts.
  • Chill dough for at least two hours or overnight.
  • When ready to bake, heat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Roll dough into one-inch balls. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  • Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until set, but not brown.
  • While still warm, roll in powdered sugar. Cool. Roll in sugar again.
